Enabling different logging levels for Connect

This article is intended for IT support. 

Linewize Delivery or Support may ask you to enable more detailed Connect logging to aid in troubleshooting. There are three levels of logging available:

  • Info
  • Debug
  • Trace

When instructed by Linewize Delivery or Support, enable a logging level before sending Connect for laptops diagnostics logs to them.

Warning

Once the logs are sent, you must enable the info logging level. Debug and Trace log files are much larger may impact performance over time.

 

Windows

  1. Open Command Prompt with Administrative Privileges.
  2. Copy and paste of the appropriate script:
Log Level Script
Debug "C:\Program Files (x86)\FamilyZone\MobileZoneAgent\bin\fc-system-service_windows-amd64" --service log --level debug
Trace "C:\Program Files (x86)\FamilyZone\MobileZoneAgent\bin\fc-system-service_windows-amd64" --service log --level trace
Info "C:\Program Files (x86)\FamilyZone\MobileZoneAgent\bin\fc-system-service_windows-amd64" --service log --level info
  1. Press Enter to run the command.

  1. Replicate the issue that is occurring on the device. If possible, replicate the issue multiple times.
  2. Send diagnostics logs to Linewize Support.

Info

If there is an error with submitting the diagnostic logs, download the support.bundle file from the Family Zone folder, and send this to Linewize Support.

  1. If not in Info logging mode, re-enable Info logging mode.

 

macOS

  1. Open Terminal.
  2. Copy and paste of the appropriate script:
Log Level Script
Debug sudo /Applications/FamilyZone/MobileZoneAgent/bin/fc-system-service_darwin-amd64 --service log --level debug
Trace sudo /Applications/FamilyZone/MobileZoneAgent/bin/fc-system-service_darwin-amd64 --service log --level trace
Info

sudo /Applications/FamilyZone/MobileZoneAgent/bin/fc-system-service_darwin-amd64 --service log --level info

  1. Press Return to run the command.

  1. Restart the device.
  2. Replicate the issue that is occurring on the device. If possible, replicate the issue multiple times.
  3. Send diagnostics logs to Linewize Support.

Info
