Troubleshoot granular YouTube filtering policies

Granular YouTube filtering policies don't apply expected content restrictions on Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge devices.

Cause

This issue occurs when the Connect for Chrome extension fails to extract YouTube page metadata or send it to Linewize Filter for evaluation.

Resolution

  1. Check the Connect for Chrome version on your student's Chromebook or Windows device in Companion Mode to ensure that you have updated the extension to version 3.7.1 or higher.

  2. Confirm that you have turned on the content filtering policy and added the YouTube Object Pool to that policy.

  3. Use the Test Policy Tool to check that Linewize Filter applies the correct filtering policy.
