This article explains how Linewize determines whether student activity is classified as on-campus or off-campus.
Linewize classifies student activity using both network context and school hours.
This approach ensures that activity is accurately associated with a student’s physical location while maintaining consistent behaviour during defined school hours.
Before you begin
- You must have access to Parent in Linewize Filter.
How activity is classified
Linewize determines whether activity is on-campus or off-campus:
- If a device is connected to a Cloud Safe Network or On Linewize Filter Network , Linewize classifies all activity as on-campus, regardless of time.
- If a device is not connected:
- Activity during school hours is classified as on-campus.
- Activity outside school hours is classified as off-campus.
Parent filtering and rules turn on and off based on the actual network location, rather than just time.
Example
- A student connected to the school network before school → On-campus
- A student at home during school hours → On-campus
- A student connected to the school network after hours → On-campus
- A student at home after school hours → Off-campus
