Set up a Safety Net in Linewize Parent

Parent’s Safety Net feature lets your school set a base filtering policy for student’s school-managed devices when they are under Extended Rules. Safety Net ensures compliance with your school's essential filtering policies and lets parents and guardians set rules for device use outside school hours.

For Safety Net to work, a parent or guardian must accept Extended Rules before their Qustodio rules can be applied to the school-managed device when the student is not at school.

Before you begin

• You must have permission to manage Linewize Parent.
• Set your Outside School Hours and School Calendar in Linewize Filter.
• Deploy Linewize Connect for Windows on students’ school-managed Windows devices.
• Deploy Linewize Connect for Chrome and Qustodio on students’ school-managed Chromebooks.

Turn on the recommended categories for Safety Net

We recommend this Safety Net, which includes Adult Mixed Content, Child Abuse, Malware and Hacking, Pornography, Proxies and VPNs categories.

1. Go to Linewize Filter > Parent > Parental Controls.
2. Go to the Configure options for parents to manage school devices outside of school hours section.
3. Select School Safety Net.
4. Select Reset to Recommended Policies.
5. Select Save.
6. (Optional) Select Safe Search to enforce Safe Search on the device when under Extended Rules.
7. Select Save.

Turn on custom Safety Net

To set up your own custom Safety Net, add or remove Recommended or Additional categories from your Safety Net.

1. Go to Linewize Filter > Parent > Parental Controls.
2. Go to the Configure options for parents to manage school devices outside of school hours section.
3. Select School Safety Net.
4. Select any category you'd like included in your Safety Net.
5. Select Save.
6. If you have cleared one or more Recommended Safety Net categories, select Confirm.
7. (Optional) Select Safe Search to enforce Safe Search on the device when under Extended Rules.
8. Select Save.
