Deploying Linewize Connect for Chrome Extension

This guide explains how to configure Google Workspace to force-install the Linewize Connect for Chrome - Education extension and how to configure School Manager to work with the extension. If you want to use the Chrome Extension for Parental Controls, follow the steps outlined in Deploying Qustodio for Parental Controls.

Before you start

• If you want to use Off School Manager Network filtering, contact your Account Manager first to see if this is right for your school.
• Contact Linewize Support for access to the Agent Downloads page.
• You must have Super Administrator-level access to your school's Google Workspace account.
• Ensure that you uninstall Connect for Chrome Extension v2.

Configuring Google Workspace

1. Sign in to Google Admin Console.
2. Select Devices > Chrome > Apps & extensions > Users & browsers.
3. Select the Organizational Unit to which you want to deploy the extension.

4. Hover over the yellow + icon.
5. Select Add Chrome app or extension by ID.
6. Select From a Custom URL from the dropdown menu.

7. To get the Extension ID and URL, Sign in to School Manager and select Configuration > Agent Downloads, you will see the following:
   1. Select Copy Extension ID and paste it into the Extension ID section on your Google Admin page.
   2. Select Copy Download URL and paste it into the URL section on your Google Admin page

8. Select Save.
9. On the next screen, select the Installation policy dropdown list and select Force install + pin.

10. Select Copy Managed Config in School Manager, then paste it into the Policy for extensions section.

11. Check the Update URL section to ensure it’s set to Installation URL.

12. Select Save on the top right of the Google Admin screen.

Configuring School Manager

There are three steps to configuring School Manager to work with the Connect for Chrome - Education extension:

1. Enable Chrome Extension Authentication
2. Configure On School Network behaviour
3. Configure Off School Network behaviour

Enabling Chrome Extension Authentication

1. Sign in to School Manager.
2. Enable Google Authentication.
3. Ensure Use FZ Auth API and Allow Chrome Extension Authentication is selected.

Configuring On School Manager Network

1. Go to Configuration > Mobile Agent.
2. Under On School Manager Network, select Filtering Enabled. This will enable filtering students when they are on campus.
3. If you want to force Safe Search, select Google, Bing, and YouTube.
4. If you want to enable Classwize, select Classroom Enabled.
5. Select Save.

Configuring Off School Manager Network

1. Stay on or go to Configuration > Mobile Agent.
2. Under Off School Manager Network select Filtering Enabled. This will enable filtering students when they are off campus.
3. If you want to force Safe Search, select Google, Bing, and YouTube.
4. If you want to enable Classwize, select Classroom Enabled.
5. Select Save.
