Configure Time Periods

Time periods are an Object type that can be used to manage and fine-tune your Linewize Filter and Classwize configurations. Time Periods allow you to limit the time of day and specific days that Linewize Filter filtering and/or Classwize functions are active.

A specific Time Periods object can be used to configure:

Feature Description Example
Classwize Allowed Time Periods Defines the time period when any Classwize class can run. Classes can’t be started outside of these allowed hours. Classwize classes can run from Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4 pm. Teachers can’t start a class outside these hours.
Classwize Student Journey Report If reporting is turned on, Student Journey Reports downloads through Classwize show activity based on the Linewize Filter reporting configuration (Outside School Hours and On and Off Linewize Filter Network). Classwize Reporting can only occur from 9 am to 3:30 pm.
Time Based Content Filtering Rules Setting when filtering rules apply and when they do not. Schools allow after-school e-sports clubs to operate safely during specific times at school. For example, allow games from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm.

Before you begin

Configuring Time Periods

It is important to adhere to a few rules when adding a new time period. These include:

  • Start time must be earlier than the End time, and entered in HH:MM format 08:30 to 22:00.
  • One full day is: 00:01 to 23:59 (when entering midnight, as 00:00 is not a valid start time).
  • Create two separate entries in the Time Period to loop around to another day: 21:00 to 23:59 and 00:01 to 05:00.

Time periods will follow the timezone set in your Linewize. This can be found in Linewize Filter > Debugging > Device Options.

  1. In Linewize Filter, go to Configuration > Objects > Time Periods.
  2. Select Add Time Period.
  3. Enter a Name and select Add.
  4. Enter a Start time and End time.
  5. Select the Days using the checkboxes. You can select one day or multiple days. When selecting All days, you must enter a Start and End date. If selecting individual days, no Start or End date can be added.
  6. Select Save.

Editing Time Periods

  1. In Linewize Filter, go to Configuration > Objects > Time Periods.
  2. Select the Edit icon next to the Time Period.
  3. Edit the Time Period and select Save.

Deleting Time Periods

  1. In Linewize Filter, go to Configuration > Objects > Time Periods.
  2. Select the Delete icon next to the Time Period.
  3. Select Delete.
