This article provides instructions for deploying Content Aware to Windows Companion Mode devices using Group Policy (GPO).
Before you begin
- Set up Companion Mode.
- Add the Content Aware ports and domains to your school's firewall allowlist.
- Set up Content Aware in School Manager.
Deploy Content Aware using Group Policy
- Open Group Policy Management.
- Expand your chosen Forest and Domain.
- Right-click on the Domain, and select Create a new a GPO in this domain, and Link it here…
- Right-click the GPO and then select Edit.
- Go to Computer Configuration > Policies > Administrative Templates (ADMX) > Google > Google Chrome > Extensions.
Important
If the Administrative Templates folder isn’t visible in the Policies folder, you must manually add it.
- Select Control which extensions are installed silently, select Enabled, and then select Show…
- On the Show Contents dialogue, enter the code below and the Download URL from your School Manager, then select OK, Apply, then OK.

- Select Configure extension, app, and user script install sources, select Enabled, then select Show…
- In the Show Contents dialogue, enter the code below then select OK, Apply, then OK.

- Select Configure extension management settings, then select Enabled.
- On the Options: Configure extension management settings dialogue enter the code below then select Apply, then OK.

- Select the GPO from the list, go to the Security Filtering section to include groups, users, or computers that should apply to the GPO, and then select Add.
