Use this guide to deploy the Connect app and Connect extension for Companion Mode in Google Chrome on Windows devices using Group Policy Object (GPO).
Before you begin
- Download the Connect for Windows .msi file from Linewize Filter by going to Configuration > Agents Download, then select Download for Windows (.msi) for school IT admins.
- Copy and note your Download URL from Linewize Filter by going to Configuration > Agents Download, then select Copy Download URL.
- Set up Companion Mode .
Install Windows ADMX template
Important
Install the Windows ADMX files first before deploying Qoria ADMX.
- Check whether Windows ADMX is already installed.
- Check C:\Windows\PolicyDefinitions for Windows ADMX files.
- Check C:\Windows\PolicyDefinitions\en-US for the corresponding ADML files.
- Add the ADMX files to: \\<your_domain>\sysvol\<your_domain>\Policies\PolicyDefinitions
- Add the ADML files to: \\<your_domain>\sysvol\<your_domain>\Policies\PolicyDefinitions\en-US
Deploy Qoria ADMX template
- In Linewize Filter, go to Configuration > Agents Download.
- Select Download ADMX.
- Add the Qoria ADMX file to: \\<your_domain>\sysvol\<your_domain>\Policies\PolicyDefinitions
- Add the Qoria ADML file to: \\<your_domain>\sysvol\<your_domain>\Policies\PolicyDefinitions\en-US
- Open Group Policy Management.
- Expand your chosen Forest and Domain.
- Right-click on Group Policy Objects and select New.
- Enter a name for the new GPO, then select OK.
- Right-click the new GPO, then select Edit.
- Go to Computer Configuration > Policies > Administrative Templates.
- Go to Qoria > Application.
- Select each setting, turn it on and add the required values:
Tip
Copy the Device ID or Pre-shared Key from Linewize Filter by going to Configuration > Agent Downloads, then selecting Copy Device ID or Copy Preshared Key.

Device ID: Add your school’s Linewize Filter Device ID.
Note
If your school uses Multi-Device Management, enter only the Parent Device ID.
- Device Region: Select the region associated with your Linewize Filter Appliance from the dropdown.
- Enable UPN: When you turn this on, Connect uses the User Principal Name (UPN) for enrolment. When you turn this off, Connect uses the Security Accounts Manager (SAM) account name instead.
- Pre-shared Key: Add your school’s Linewize Filter Device Key.
- Close the Group Policy Management Editor after changing all settings.
- Link the GPO to your managed devices. The changes will deploy to the appropriate devices and users on your network.
Deploy the Connect app
- Open Group Policy Management Editor.
- Go to Computer Configuration > Policies > Software Settings.
- Right-click Software Installation and then select New > Package...
- Locate the Connect for Windows .msi file on your device or shared drive, then select Open and Yes.
- Select Assigned, then select OK.
- Restart your devices to applythe policy assignment updates for Linewize Connect.
Deploy the Connect extension
- Open Group Policy Management.
- Expand your chosen Forest and Domain.
- Right-click on Group Policy Objects and select New.
- Enter a name for the new GPO, then select OK.
- Right-click the new GPO, then select Edit.
- Select Configure extension management settings, then select Enabled.
- On the Options: Configure extension management settings dialog enter

- Select Apply, then OK.
Important
Replace https://download.qoria.com/browser/APPLIANCEID with the Download URL you copied earlier in the Before you begin section. Make sure APPLIANCEID matches your Linewize Filter Appliance Device ID .
- Add all the policies listed in the Google Chrome Browser Policies .
- Select the GPO from the list, go to the Security Filtering section to include groups, users, or computers that should apply to the GPO, then select Add.
Test Browser Policies
- Go to Google Chrome and in the address bar type:
chrome://policy
- Confirm that all policies are listed.
