Schools must manage all student Bring Your Own (BYO) devices. Unmanaged BYO devices are not supported, as they can be tampered with by the child, making them unreliable for applying filtering and reporting.
We understand that some families may still choose to install parental control apps on their children's devices to try to keep them safe online. However, these apps can interfere with learning at your school by blocking access to needed resources during school time, or interfering with class activities.
To minimise disruptions, we recommend encouraging parents and guardians to use a parental control app that supports learning while meeting their online safety needs. We provide and recommend Qustodio for this purpose.
If your school uses Linewize, you can use Cloud Safe Network to automatically turn off Qustodio when a student’s BYO learning device connects to the school network, helping ensure uninterrupted access to learning tools during class. Qustodio refers to this feature as School Safe Networks in their documentation.
