Allowing Specific Groups to Bypass Filtering

This article is for IT support.

You can use Bypass Filtering when you don’t want to filter specific staff groups.

Bypass Filtering allows Connect to disable filtering while users from your specified Groups are signed into a device. For example, you can allow your School Administration to bypass filtering after signing in. The device will be filtered again after the user signs out.

Bypass Filtering works with Connect for iOS, Connect for Windows, Connect for macOS or Connect for Chrome. It works in all Filtering Modes (WEB, DNS and COMPANION modes). The feature can use Local School Manager Groups, Synchronized Groups or a combination of both.

  1. Go to Configuration > Mobile Agent.
  2. (Optional) If you have a School Manager physical appliance, verify the On School Manager Network > Filtering Enabled is checked.

Under the On School Manager Network heading:
    1. Click “Select a group to limit filtering” in BYPASS Filtering Groups.
    2. Start typing the group name or scroll down the Group list.
    3. Select the Group name when you see it.
    4. (Optional) Click in the box again to select another Group.

  3. (Required) For devices running Connect, the Off School Manager Network > Filtering Enabled checkbox must be checked.

Under the Off School Manager Network heading:
    1. Click “Select a group to limit filtering” in BYPASS Filtering Groups.
    2. Start typing the group name or scroll down the Group list.
    3. Select the Group name when you see it.
    4. (Optional) Click in the box again to select another Group.

  4. Go to the bottom-right and select Save.
