Adding, editing and removing a family in SCP

This article explains how to add, edit and remove a family in School Community Platform (SCP).

Adding a family

Adding a family is useful when a small number of new students start at your school. If you need to add a large number of students, use the BAC process instead.

  1. In SCP, go to Users > Students

  1. Select Invite Family

  1. On the Individual Family tab, select the Plan using the dropdown
  2. Enter the student’s First Name and Last Name
  3. Add the student’s Date of Birth
  4. Enter the student’s External ID (Optional)
  5. Enter the student’s Unique ID
  6. Enter the student Wifi MAC Address (Optional)

Note

If you would like to add another student from the same family, select Add Family Student and repeat steps 4 - 8.

  1. Enter the parent’s First Name and Last Name
  2. Enter the parent’s Email Address

Note

If you would like to add another parent, select Add Family Parent and repeat steps 9 and 10.

  1. To send the parent invitations to register an account and link with your school, select the Yes, send invitations checkbox.
  2. Select Invite

Editing a family

You can’t edit a family once they have been created. You will need to contact the parent directly to edit their details. Alternatively, you can remove/unlink the family and add the family again if you’ve made a mistake.

Shared Parenting 

If students have shared parenting arrangements (for example, a mother and father who share custody but do not wish to share the same Family Zone account), you can add additional shared parents. These parents can manage student filters, but not edit student details or add other parents.

You can also use shared parenting to share management of a student's filters and controls between parents and a boarding house.

Parents can also set up their own shared parenting arrangements in Family Zone.

To add a Shared Parent:

  1. Go to Users > Students 
  2. Select a student 
  3. On the Shared Parenting section, enter their First Name, Last NameEmail Address and select their Plan.
  4. Select Invite

Removing a family

To remove a family from SCP, you will need to unlink the student.
