This guide is intended for school leadership and wellbeing staff.
School Manager creates a record of blocked access by users to applications and websites, as well as attempts to avoid filtering policies (also referred to as rules) within the School Manager network and on devices running Linewize Connect.
The Blocked Report is available via Cyber Safety > Blocked, and presents the list of:
- Top Users with blocked connections (default view)
- Top blocked Apps and websites
- Top filtering Policies that have been breached by students over the selected time period
Important
The data that are presented in Blocked Reports depend on the length of the selected time period. If the information you are looking for is not included in the current report, we recommend selecting a longer time period using the date selector at the top of the screen.
Blocked Users
Select the Users button to see a list of users blocked by School Manager during the selected time period. You can use this report to identify students who may need additional support with the content they access online.
- Search by typing any part of the user's name.
- Switch to the blocked Users, Apps or Policies views.
- Click Username column title to sort users alphabetically. Click again to reverse the sort.
Click on an individual to go to the Apps and Websites report filtered for their activity. - Click the Hits column title to sort by the count of the blocked attempts. Click again to reverse the sort.
- A ratio of the six most frequently blocked websites or categories of website.
- A ratio of the six users with the highest count of blocked attempts.
Blocked Applications and Websites
Select the Apps button to see a list of apps and websites blocked by School Manager for the selected time period. You can use this report to identify trends toward inappropriate or distracting online activities.
- Search by typing any part of the web address or app name.
- Switch to the blocked Users, Apps or Policies views.
- Click Application column title to sort alphabetically. Click again to reverse the sort.
Click a website or app name to go to a list of users who attempted to access this website or app during the selected time period. - Click the Hits column title to sort by the count of the blocked attempts. Click again to reverse the sort.
- A ratio of the six most frequently blocked websites or categories of website (same as above).
- A ratio of the six users with the highest count of blocked attempts (same as above).
Blocked Policies
Policies are the filtering rules that prevent students from opening certain apps and sites. The Blocked Policies report also covers unsafe searches, which may give a clue into the information students are looking for, and if intervention is needed. You can use this report to discuss the effectiveness of your filtering rules with your IT support or filtering administrator.
- Search by typing any part of the filtering policy (rule) name.
- Switch to the blocked Users, Apps or Policies views.
- Click Policy column title to sort alphabetically. Click again to reverse the sort.
Click a policy name to see a list of users and the number of times each user was blocked from accessing the web content during this time period. - Click the Hits column title to sort by the count of the blocked attempts. Click again to reverse the sort.
- A ratio of the six most frequently blocked websites or categories of website (same as above).
- A ratio of the six users with the highest count of blocked attempts (same as above).
