Your Linewize Appliance arrives preconfigured to minimise the setup time. You should contact your Linewize Deployment Engineer to help you install it and connect it for the first time to your bridged network.
Before you begin
Ensure you have:
Included components:
- Linewize 30D or 40D Appliance
- Power cable
- Mounting instructions
- Port Configuration sheet
Requirements for installation:
- 1 hour for setup and cutover
- 1U rack space
- Access to the upstream firewall and downstream core switch
- 3 x CAT6 (or better) network cables
Important
Confirm this with your Deployment Engineer, as it will depend on your network infrastructure
- A computer on the same network with one of the following:
- VGA cable, monitor, and keyboard for command-line access.
- TeamViewer installed for SSH access.
- A network cable connecting the Linewize Appliance’s IPMI port to the core switch (inform the Deployment Engineer of the IP address).
Step 1: Book your Deployment call
- Contact Linewize Support to schedule a call with a Linewize Deployment Engineer outside school hours.
Step 2: Install the Linewize Appliance
- Mount the Linewize Appliance in your server rack following the instructions provided.
- Connect the Linewize Appliance to power and turn it on. Ensure the LEDs light up and the fans are moving.
Step 3: Join the Deployment call
- Join the call with the Linewize Deployment Engineer.
- Sign in to School Manager (US, NZ, or AUS) with the credentials provided.
- Go to Configuration > Networking > Interfaces to check connectivity:
- If interfaces appear, the Linewize Appliance is online. Confirm internet access across devices.
- If interfaces don’t appear, follow the troubleshooting steps provided by the Deployment Engineer.

- Using the Port Configuration Sheet provided:
- Connect the designated port to your upstream firewall for internet access.
- Connect the designated port to your downstream core switch to link the school network.
