Syncing Wonde with School Manager

This article is for IT Support. 

Your Linewize products need up-to-date information about your school's students, teachers and classrooms. The best way to provide this information is to sync a SIS (Student Information System) with School Manager.

This article describes how to automatically sync Wonde with School Manager.

Before you begin

  1. Contact Linewize Support team to generate a Wonde School ID and Access Token.
  2. Ensure the SIS username and SIS teacher email fields match your Wonde configuration.
    Read Wonde - API Reference for more information.
  3. Schedule time outside school hours to complete Step 1. Wonde may take up to four hours to sync with School Manager for the first time.

Step 1: Configure Wonde for Syncing

  1. Go to Configuration > Authentication > SIS Integration.
  2. Select Add New.
  3. Select Wonde. The Add Wonde Sync dialog will appear.
  4. Enter a Name for the Wonde integration
  5. Select the SIS username field. You can select from active_directory_username, mis_id or username.
    • active_directory_username: The active directory username used to identify the contact.
    • mis_id: The ID Wonde provides to refer to an object within the source MIS.
    • username: The username of the student in Wonde.
  6. Select the SIS teacher email field. You can select from work, email, primary and home.
  7. Select the Field to match students. You can select from Username or Email.
  8. Select the Class name field. You can select from class.subject.data.code - class.description or class.code - class.description
  9. Select the Domain.
    • For schools in the UK and the rest of the world, select "api.wonde.com".
    • For schools in Australia and New Zealand, select "api-ap-southeast-2.wonde.com"
  10. Enter the Wonde School ID provided by the Linewize Support team.
  11. Enter the Access Token provided by the Linewize Support team.
  12. Select Submit. The Wonde integration will appear on the list.
  13. Select Sync.

    Note

    You only need to manually start the first sync. Wonde will then sync automatically on a set schedule (see Scheduled Wonde sync).

  14. Sync Details will show whether the sync was successful or failed. To see the sync detail, select View log. On the Sync Details screen:
    • A successful sync will display the number of Matched Students, Matched Teachers, Unmatched Students, Unmatched Teachers, Unmatched Users and Imported Classes.
    • A failed sync will display an error code. Contact Linewize Support with the error code for help.

Important: Scheduled Wonde sync

Wonde syncs with School Manager nightly in your region.

  • US/NZ region: syncs start at 6 PM US Central Time (UTC-5).
  • AU region: syncs start at 6 PM Australian Western Standard Time (UTC+8).
  • UK region: syncs start at 6 PM UTC.

A device's sync may start any time between 6 PM in that region to 24 hours later, depending on previous sync times from other devices. You can manually run a sync to propagate changes before the automatic sync period.
