The qoria.default user is a hardcoded default username that Linewize Connect uses to enroll a device when it can’t identify the actual signed-in user.
Previously, if a user signed in but Linewize Connect couldn’t determine their identity, the device could remain associated with the previously signed-in user. This caused filtering and reporting data to incorrectly reflect the activity of the wrong user.
To prevent this, Linewize Connect now relies on an authentication service to retrieve the User Principal Name (UPN) or SAM Account Name of the currently signed-in user. If this information can’t be found, Linewize Connect automatically enrolls the device under the qoria.default user instead of retaining the previous user.
- Goal: This feature ensures devices remain enrolled and filtered, even if standard user authentication fails.
- Availability: All existing customers receive this feature automatically. New customers must complete the configuration steps outlined below.
Set up default user enforcement
To ensure proper filtering and reporting of devices using the default user, you must create and configure the qoria.default user in Linewize Filter.
1. Create the default user in Linewize Filter
You must follow a specific format for this user, as it is hardcoded in Linewize Connect.
- In Linewize Filter, go to Configuration > Users and Groups > Users.
- Select Add User.
- Enter qoria.default as the Username, then Add.
- Enter Qoria as the First Name.
- Enter Default as the Last Name.
- Select Save.
Danger
If all Local Users are purged, the qoria.default user will be removed. This will cause Linewize Connect to unauthenticate any device previously authenticated as the default user, potentially leaving the device unfiltered.
2. Create a Filtering policy for the default user
Add a specific Content Filtering policy with the qoria.default user to manage the level of web access for unidentified devices. If you don’t link a specific policy, the default user will be filtered based on all your Content Filtering policies.
