Content-aware Module detects and blurs explicit, violent, or inappropriate images and videos to create a safer digital environment. You can adjust the sensitivity level of image and video blurring to suit your school.
Note
To get Content-aware Module, contact your Linewize Success or Account Manager. Content-aware Module won’t blur images on canvas-based rendering sites like Google Docs, Sheets, Canva, or specific educational domains.
Content Categories
The Content-aware Module can detect images and videos for the following categories:
|
Category |
Definition and examples |
|---|---|
|
Gore |
Graphically violent content, such as:
|
|

Explicit and adult content, including Anime and cartoons. |

Sensitivity levels
When Content-aware checks a piece of content, it determines how confidently it falls into one of the categories. The Sensitivity Level you set determines the confidence level at which content will be blurred.
|
Sensitivity level |
Description |
|---|---|
|
Low |
Blurs content when there is greater detection confidence, resulting in more accurate blurring of the matching content. However, marginal content may not be blurred. Use this option for categories where you don’t need strict blurring. |
|
Medium |
Blurs content at a moderate detection confidence, which may result in more false positives, but also reduces the chances of students seeing content that may be inappropriate. |
|
High |
Blurs content with less detection confidence, resulting in a higher chance of false positives. |
Additional features
Video
Video blocking
Video blocking stops a video from playing (including audio) and prevents the user from replaying it. The Content-aware Module requires at least five seconds of inappropriate video playback to analyse content and determine whether it is inappropriate. During this analysis period, audio may still play. Once the module blocks the video, users see a blurred video player with no available options or controls.
Exclude YouTube channels
If you want users to see all videos from a specific YouTube channel, you can exclude that channel from video blurring. You can exclude up to 50 channels.
General
Excluded Domains
If you don’t want Content-aware Module to blur content on specific domains, you can exclude them from image and video blurring. You can exclude up to 50 domains.
Guilt by Association
Guilt by Association blurs images on a webpage when the Content-aware Module determines that the majority of the page's content is inappropriate.
For example, if a user searches for images and 6 of the first 12 images on a page are deemed inappropriate, Content Aware will blur all images from this search.
