If you sync users, groups or Classwize classes from multiple directories (Google, Microsoft Entra or LDAP), Linewize Filter can merge these into a single account. Set the directory you use for authentication as the primary provider by giving it the highest priority value in Linewize Filter.
Warning
Because Linewize Filter uses email addresses as the unique identifier, they must match in all the directories you want to merge.
Before you begin
- Configure your directories (LDAP Servers, Google or Microsoft Entra) to sync with Linewize Filter.
-
Decide which directory you want as the primary provider. You must set the primary provider with a Merge Priority of 100 and set any other providers with a Merge Priority of 99 or lower.
Example
A school uses Windows devices where users sign in with LDAP credentials but they manage groups and Classwize classes through Google Admin. Since authentication happens through LDAP, set LDAP’s Merge Priority to 100, and Google’s to 90.
Set Merge Priority
- Go to Configuration > Authentication > the primary provider’s page (Google/Microsoft Entra/LDAP Servers).
- In the Advanced Configuration section, for Merge Priority, enter a value of 100.
-
In the Merge Key dropdown menu, select:
- Email - If the user’s email address in each directory is the same (case sensitive).
- Email Without Domain - If the domain is different in each directory.
- Select Save (LDAP Servers) or Submit (Google/Microsoft Entra).
- Go to Configuration > Authentication > the other provider’s page (Google/Microsoft Entra/LDAP Servers).
-
In the Advanced Configuration section, for Merge Priority, enter a value of 99 or lower and select the Merge Key that matches the primary provider’s setting.
Tip
You can use any value that is lower than the primary provider’s value.
- Select Save (LDAP Servers) or Submit (Google/Microsoft Entra).
