Use this guide to deploy the Connect app and Connect extension for Companion Mode in Microsoft Edge on Windows devices using Microsoft Intune.
Before you begin
- Assign the devices to a Microsoft Intune group or use an existing group.
- Turn off Sidebar Access in Microsoft Intune under Settings Catalog > Administrative Templates > Microsoft Edge - Default Settings (users can override) > Show Hubs Sidebar > Disabled.
- Download the Connect for Windows .msi file from Linewize Filter by going to Configuration > Agents Download, then select Download for Windows (.msi) for school IT admins.
- Copy and note your Download URL from Linewize Filter by going to Configuration > Agents Download, then select Copy Download URL.
- Only use the Download URL from the Parent Device if you have multiple Linewize Filter Appliances.
- Set up Companion Mode .
Deploy Windows ADMX template
Important
Install the Windows ADMX files first before deploying Qoria ADMX.
- Locate whether Windows ADMX is already present in Intune.
- If the Windows ADMX template is not installed:
- Locate the Windows ADMX file in:
C:\Windows\PolicyDefinitions
- Locate the Windows ADML file in:
C:\Windows\PolicyDefinitions\en-US
- Locate the Windows ADMX file in:
- In the Microsoft Intune admin center, go to Devices > Configuration.
- Select the Import ADMX tab.
- Select Import.
- Select the Windows ADMX and ADML files on the ADMX file upload tab, then select Next.
- Review the settings on the Review + create tab, then select Create.
Deploy Qoria ADMX template
Import ADMX templates
- In Linewize Filter, go to Configuration > Agents Download.
- Select Download ADMX.
- In the Microsoft Intune admin center , go to Devices > Configuration.
- Select the Import ADMX tab.
- Select Import.
- Select the Qoria ADMX and ADML files on the ADMX file upload tab, then select Next.
- Review the settings on the Review + create tab, then select Create.
Create a Policy to deploy the template
- In the Microsoft Intune admin center , go to Devices > Configuration.
- Select Create > New Policy.
- Select Windows 10 and later from the Platform dropdown.
- Select Templates from the Profile type dropdown.
- Select Imported Administrative templates (Preview), then select Create.
- Select Computer Configuration > Qoria > Application.
- Select each setting, turn it on and add a value:
Tip
Copy the Device ID or Pre-shared Key from Linewize Filter by going to Configuration > Agent Downloads, then selecting Copy Device ID or Copy Preshared Key.

Device ID: Add your school’s Linewize Filter Device ID.
Note
If your school uses Multi-Device Management, enter only the Parent Device ID.
- Device Region: Select the region associated with your Linewize Filter Appliance from the dropdown.
- Enable UPN: When you turn this on, Connect uses the User Principal Name (UPN) for enrolment. When you turn this off, Connect uses the Security Accounts Manager (SAM) account name instead.
- Pre-shared Key: Add your school’s Linewize Filter Device Key.
- Select Next.
- On the Scope tags tab, select Next.
- On the Assignments tab, below Included Groups, select Add groups.
- Select the group checkbox, then select Next.
- On the Review + Create tab, select Create.
Deploy the Connect app
- In the Microsoft Intune admin center , go to Apps > All apps.
- Select + Add on the toolbar.
- Select Line-of-business app from the App type dropdown, then select Next.
- On the App information tab, select Select app package file.
- Locate the Connect for Windows .msi file on your device or shared drive, then select OK.
- The Name, Description and App Version fields should autofill on the App information tab. Review the details.
- In the Publisher field, enter “Qoria” then select Next.
- Review the settings on the Review + create tab, then select Create.
Important
You may need to resync to ensure the device receives the latest Microsoft Intune configuration.
Deploy the Connect extension
- Sign in to the Microsoft Intune admin center and go to Devices > Configuration profiles.
- Select + Create profile. Tip: If you already have a policy for Browser extensions, copy it and edit the scope of your old policy to exclude your test devices. Add your test devices to the new policy and the settings below.
- Select Windows 10 and later from the Platform dropdown.
- Select Settings Catalog from the Profile type dropdown, then select Create.
- On the Basics tab, enter “Linewize Companion Mode Edge Policies” in the Name field (required), then select Next.
- On the Configuration settings tab, select Add settings.
- Go to Microsoft Edge > Extensions.
- Select the following policy checkboxes:
- Control which extensions are installed silently
- Configure extension and user script install sources
- Close the Settings picker.
- Select the Control which extensions are installed silently toggle on the Configurations tab.
- In the box, enter

Important
Replace https://download.qoria.com/browser/APPLIANCEID with the Download URL you copied earlier in the Before you begin section. Make sure APPLIANCEID matches your Linewize Filter Appliance Device ID .
- Select the Configure extension and user script install sources toggle on the Configuration settings tab.
- In the box, enter https://download.qoria.com/browser/*
- Add all the policies listed in the Microsoft Edge Browser Policies .
- On the Configuration settings tab, select Next.
- On the Scope tags tab, select Next.
- On the Assignments tab, below Included Groups, select Add groups.
- On the Select groups to include panel, enter the group name in the Search field where the software needs to be installed.
- Select the group checkbox, then select Next.
- On the Review + Create tab, select Create.
Test Browser Policies
- Go to Microsoft Edge and in the address bar type:
edge://policy
- Confirm that all policies are listed.
