What is Linewize Community?

Linewize Community helps schools empower guardians by letting them actively safeguard their child’s online activity. 

Your school can use Community to give parents or guardians insight into how their child uses their school device. You can also let parents or guardians layer filtering rules on top of your school policy and manage screen time on their school device outside of school hours. Community also gives all parents or guardians at your school free access to Qustodio’s award-winning parental controls and digital wellbeing solution for one personal device per student.

How does it work?

1. We turn on Community and help you choose what you want to share with guardians.
2. If you decide to use Parental Controls, you’ll take a couple of extra steps
   1. You decide whether to:
      • apply your normal filtering policies outside of school hours, or 
      • create a custom Safety Net and apply it outside of school hours.
        A Safety Net empowers parents to create their own filtering rules, while ensuring they can’t unblock things like pornography or malware.
   2. You deploy Community to your student’s devices.
3. You add parents’ details to School Manager.
4. We help you tell parents that Community is available. You can even use Weekly Reports to send invites.
5. Parents or guardians sign up for a free Qustodio account and connect it to their child’s school device.
6. Community checks the School Manager Calendar to see if it’s inside or outside school hours.

   Inside school hours: 

   Your school manages the device as normal. You can choose to let parents and guardians see their child’s usage activity for the school day, and control how much you share.

   Outside school hours

   Depending on what you decide at Step 2, Community enforces your school’s normal filtering policies or your customised Safety Net on the device outside of school hours.

   Parents or guardians can see their child’s outside of hours usage activity. You can also choose to let them:

   • pause the internet
   • create and apply content filtering rules
   • set daily time limits on the total amount of screen time
   • Set restricted times when children can’t use specific sites, or even use the internet at all
   • Create routines, such as those required to support sleep and study

Is Linewize Community right for my school?

Community is suitable for schools that manage their student’s Windows, macOS, iOS or Chromebook devices. However, not all Community features are available on all types of devices.

Community is not available for any kind of unmanaged BYO devices.
