Connect for iOS 3.7.0 (September 2024)

What's New

  • We have reduced the polling interval for the Connect App when the device is On-Network and School Auto Enrolment (SAE) is turned on, improving the responsiveness for schools using Walled Garden and SAE.
  • We have also updated the Connect App to poll immediately when a device wakes from sleep or hibernation, ensuring quicker recognition by School Manager while maintaining the current polling interval when Off-Network.

What's New

  • Apple mandated a change as of 1st May 2024, requiring all app submissions to the App Store to include a privacy manifest file outlining specific API and data collection usage.

  • We have added an Application Bypass feature that allows you to exclude specific apps from the Connect app's filtering. This exclusion can be configured in the Connect app configuration profile using the app bundle identifier, handled through your MDM.

What's New

  • We have improved the user enrolment process. The iOS app will now attempt to re-enrol only when it is not already enrolled.
  • We have adjusted on-network authentication polling to occur less, reducing the number of requests and improving network efficiency.

Summary

  • We made an update to the Connection Report that allows schools to view the device Serial Numbers of the iPads being used by each student.

  • We made changes to stop the app from communicating with deprecated APIs.

What's New

  • We have fixed a bug that allowed users with iOS 16 and higher to bypass filtering by manually changing the DNS server settings of the wifi.
  • We have locked the app in portrait mode, and will no longer rotate to landscape mode.
  • We fixed a bug that caused the app to crash when the device ID was not provided.

  • We are excited to announce that Apple has granted approval for our latest custom app, "Connect Filter," to be privately purchased through the app store.
  • We made several user interface enhancements, clearly indicating to the user when filtering is in effect.
  • We streamlined the deployment process when upgrading from v2 to v3 or when distributing iOS for v3 and above.
