Configuring Community's Safety Net in School Manager

This article is intended for IT Support at schools with Linewize Community which use School Manager to manage students’ access to their network and internet connections.

Parents and Guardians

We use the term "parent" to include guardians and other legal custodians. Linewize is not responsible for resolving disputes between parents, schools and school staff.

Community’s Safety Net feature lets your school set a base filtering policy for student devices when they are under Parental Controls. Safety Net ensures compliance with your school's essential filtering policy, allowing parents to set rules when the device is used outside school hours.

Important

Safety Net is available to schools and parents using school-managed Chromebooks. To use this feature, you must install both the Linewize Connect for Chrome and Qustodio Kids App Chrome extensions on the student’s device.

For Safety Net to work, a parent must accept Parental Controls before their Qustodio rules can be applied to the school-managed device when the student is not at school.

Note

The initial phase of Safety Net is limited to the Outside School Hours set by you in School Manager. A parent cannot remove a student from a school day at this time.

Before You Begin

You must set your Outside School Hours and School Calendar in School Manager.
