This article provides steps to add a VLAN interface and VLAN Bridge interface to School Manager. The typical use cases for a VLAN in School Manager include:
- VLANs are configured on an upstream device in a bonded or bridged configuration.
- Use as a management interface or any interface on a VLAN tagged interface.
Add VLAN interface
To configure a VLAN interface.
- In School Manager, go to Configuration > Networking > Interfaces.
- In the upper right, select Add Virtual Interface.
- Select VLAN from the Interface Type dropdown.
- Select the physical interface from the Interface dropdown.
- Enter a VLAN ID, then select Add.
- Select the Saved checkbox for the new VLAN interface.
Note
Add a VLAN Interface for every member of the VLAN Bridge. For example, if a VLAN Bridge includes eth2 and eth3, add two interfaces: one for eth2 and another for eth3.
Add VLAN Bridge interface
To configure a VLAN Bridge interface.
- In School Manager, go to Configuration > Networking > Interfaces.
- In the upper right, select Add Virtual Interface.
- Select Bridge from the Interface Type dropdown, then select Add.
- Select Edit (Pencil icon) for the Bridge interface.
- Select the Saved checkbox.
- Enter a Name for the Bridge using the VLAN ID, Use Case and IP Addresses.
For example: VLAN20 - Students - 172.16.10.0/24 - Select the VLAN interfaces as Bridge Members.
- If necessary, include the Bridge IP Address and Gateway.
- Select Save.
